TRAFFIC MOTORCYCLE
The Kerman Police Department has taken innovative and pro-active action in the fight to obtain traffic law compliance and collisions reduction. One of the main concerns is slowing down speeders due the fact that the main cause of collisions and injuries is still speed.

In 2007 the City of Kerman requested a Grant from the State of California Office of Traffic Safety to purchase a motorcycle and a mobile radar unit. Upon reviewing the request OTS approved the grant and allowed for the purchase of the required equipment. With Officer Barbosa heading this project we were able to purchase the mobile radar and a BMW motorcycle from Fresno BMW.

The traffic division issues citations on Kerman’s most collision-prone streets. The traffic division does not handle calls for service, as the main goal is to change poor driver behavior and prevent collisions before they occur.

Currently Officer Jeff Belding is our assigned Motorcycle Officer.
